CONFIEP, in its capacity as Technical Secretary of the Global Company net in Peru, together with the British peruvian Chamber and the Human resource Consultant Resource, organised for those companies who are member of the Global Compact, the initiative "Global Compact Recognition Peru: Ethics and Business leadership":
The ' Global Compact Recognition Peru: Ethics and Business Leadership' is promoted by the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP and the International Labour Organisation - ILO and has as a central objective to promote a new business culture in the country, identifying private companies with responsible practices which promote and strengthen the principles of the Global Compact.
In Peru, more than 90 companies have committed formally with the principles of the Global Compact and 19 participated in the contest that was organised by the Global Compact net in Peru, the awards ceremony for which was held on March 19.
The mining company Antamina received the main award, a global recognition for their achievements in the ten principles of the Global Compact. The following companies were also recognised for their efforts in different fields: Unión de Cervecerías Peruanas Backus & Johnston, Agrícola Chapi, Compañía de Minas Buenaventura, Sociedad Minera Brocal and Telefónica del Perú.
